Remembering the Fourth of July

America the Beautiful

America the Beautiful

Welcome to my Pawelys Island Real Estate page! My how time flies! It seems like only yesterday I was driving the kids for their first day of school last year. In the blink of an eye, they are already out for the summer which reminded me that one of my favorite holidays is right around the corner. You guessed it, The fourth of July! I then asked one of my kids “what makes the 4th of July so important?” They were a little uncertain and thought it was all about parades, fireworks and most importantly …. WATERMELON on the beach!!!! I feel that it is important to share with our youth the importance of the sacrifices for our freedom that were made. We have the opportunities and freedoms today that make this country so great because of the servicemen of our United States of America!  On a side note:  I personally would like to thank each and everyone one that has served, is serving and plan on serving in the future. Ok, now back to the story …. I then shared a little more about what this holiday Means. The Fourth of July is our country’s birthday. I then began to tell them what happened on July 4, 1776. That was the day our country’s founders declared INDEPENDENCE from Great Britain. This meant they would no longer follow the orders of Britain’s king. If it were not for the courage of our forefathers where would we be today?  Yeah … needless to say, I believe they had a better understanding.  I do believe that my children now realize that there is more to the holiday than WATERMELON on the beach!  🙂

If you are in town during the 4th and looking for some celebration ideas, The Pawleys Island Parade is a fun, family tradition on the 4th. The Fourth of July Parade on Pawleys Island, South Carolina is a fun community event. Visitors and locals alike parade down the Island in anything that becomes a makeshift float – be it a boat, car, golf cart or flatbed truck! All of which are decorated in our Country’s good ole “RED WHITE & BLUE”.
Another great event is the Murrells Inlet 4th of July Boat Parade & Fireworks Display. Don’t miss this annual Inlet patriotic tradition!   The 31st Annual July 4th Boat Parade kicks off at noon from Garden City Point.  The parade theme is “Saluting our Founding Fathers.”  The parade will head over to the Murrells Inlet Marshwalk and then follow the Murrells Inlet shoreline down to the Murrells Inlet Jetty View Walk (behind the King Street Grille & Hot Fish Club).  Best public viewing points are the Marshwalk, Belin Methodist Church and Jetty View Walk. Also, The Murrells Inlet Marshwalk restaurants will light up the skies on the 4th of July with a spectacular fireworks display.  The show is scheduled to start at 10:00 pm.
Whether you head to the beach, parades, fireworks or have a family cookout, just remember to take a few moments to appreciate what the 4th of July really means. It’s really a blessing and an honor to live in the greatest country in the world the USA!!!!  Never forget that this price of freedom was not free.  It also took tremendous sacrifice and I hope that we as a nation never forget and we salute YOU!
